Wadzanai CDT TeamWadzanai Community Development Trust (WCDT) is a community based organization located in Chinamhora communal area, northwest of Goromonzi District in Mashonaland East Province of Zimbabwe. The organization operates in eleven wards of which five wards are in Bindura district, in Musana and Masembura areas and six in Goromonzi district, in Chinamhora area, covering a geographic area of 18 000 square kilometers with more than 195 000 inhabitants.
Wadzanai CDT was established as cooperate in the late 80’s, when a group of women came together to start income generating projects. WCDT has since evolved over the years into an association and was later registered as a Trust in 2006. The organization was founded on the premise of uplifting women’s socio-economic status.  This is done through the promotion of women to active leading roles in development issues. Since the women do not live on their own island, the organization has adopted a holistic approach to also include other social groups like men, youths, and community leaders.
WCDT partners with a number of national and international organizations, but are not managed by any agency or religious group. The organization’s independence affords flexibility, credibility and accountability wherever and with whomever it works with. However, WCDT is currently operating under the Norwegian umbrella fund through the Norwegian People’s AID (Zimbabwe).
